Jane's Birthday - The Opening of Gifts

I have been such a blog slacker lately, so my new goal in the spirit of everyone else's 365 projects is to blog something once a day for the rest of this month and all of April. Sometimes I will write in this blog and sometimes I will write in my other blog. Now that I've told you about my goal, I'm hoping it will keep me honest. I'm doing this for you Grandma and Grandpa so here goes nothing...

Back in January, which feels like forever ago, we celebrated Jane's 2nd birthday. Here she is first thing in the morning on her birthday, a couple minutes before the actual time she was born (7:57 AM), two years ago. She's still kind of my little baby in this picture, not quite a full-blown toddler, if only for a few minutes.

But grow up they must. And learn to cook for themselves. So we got Jane a play kitchen. We picked this one out because it wasn't very expensive and it has a faux brick backsplash just like our kitchen. OK, not so much the part about the backsplash, especially since one of the first things I plan to do when we remodel our kitchen someday is to get rid of the faux brick. And no, Josh is not trying to show off his "manly" chest. The buttons on these jammies don't seem to ever stay closed.

This is Rocky. Jason decided this would be a good name for him. As you can see Jane was delighted with this gift from Gramsie. She loves this guy and sings a little song whenever she rides on it, "Rocking, rocking, rocking, rocking." She has a really sweet little voice that just melts my heart and I will put a video on here as soon as I figure out how to download it.

Even princesses can play in the kitchen. They can do whatever they want! This is Jane's birthday crown from her first birthday. I think she is starting to grow into it. I wonder how many more years she will let me put it on her head.

At this point, Jane noticed a present from her Auntie Lindsay and set to work opening it. You can see the cute outfit she got from her auntie in my next post, The Birthday Lunch.

As you can see from these pictures, my kids are in the squint your eyes tightly and say cheese when Mommy asks you to smile for the camera.

I just LOVE these faces!!!
