This is our cake. I say "our" because Jason made it the night before Josh's birthday because I was feeling really sick. He frosted it while it was still warm and the frosting soaked into the cake. Yum! After a rough night and some desperate prayers I woke up feeling much better on Josh's birthday. I just didn't want him to have a crummy birthday. I think the Lord healed me for Josh's birthday because the next day I was right back to being sick again. It was a sort of Halloween miracle. (I bet you don't hear that very often.)
After Josh had a fun day at preschool in his costume, we went to Target to get a few more gifts, some candles and anything with Lightning McQueen on it. I slapped another layer of frosting on the cake to smooth it out and stuck some candles and bouncy balls on it. Kind of lame, but my kid was pleased and the two layers of frosting tasted awesome. Amidst the trick-or-treaters a couple of friends stopped by and decorated cupcakes to take home. Poor little Jane was kind of neglected. You can see her stuck in her highchair being fed in between blowing out the candles and opening presents. We never even put on her Halloween costume. (Thank goodness we got pictures at the ward Trunk-or-Treat) Josh looks a little dazed because he likes to go to bed around 7. No lie. Do we know how to party or not?
All in all the evening was festive and not too crazy. We love our little boy and can't believe he is three. He is an wonderful blessing in our lives and an absolute joy to us.

I got four hours of sleep the night before H's birthday and I thought I was going to be horribly cranky on her birthday but like you I felt ok that day (despite coming home from the hospital the day before) and I was able to give her a good birthday too! Thank goodness for being able to make birthdays special!
Do you think you got sick from the trip to mexico? I got really sick for a week or so and I think it started when we got home. Anyway so glad to hear that you were able to enjoy the birthday! I am excited for Josh having a birthday on Halloween looks like it would be fun!
Its so funny how nothing ever goes as planned! You sure pulled it off well though!
We wish we could have helped Joshua celebrate. He such a sweet guy. I can hardly wait to see the kids at Christmas time.
