A Lion's Tale

One day in California a little boy named Joshua went to play outside in his Gramsie's backyard. He loved driving around the little cars she had but he wasn't too sure about the pool. He felt pretty stylish in his new Cars bathing suit but found the life jacket was rather confining. He liked dipping his fingers in the cool water and splashing around. He liked watching the little pebbles he threw break and ripple the pool's surface then float gently down. But actually getting in the water...well he was in no hurry.

With Gramsie's help, the little boy overcame his trepidation and climbed aboard his trusty float. This proved delightful, especially when Gramsie brought him over to the little waterfall from the spa allowing a little curtain of refreshment to cool him. Gramsie didn't want Joshua's fair Celtic skin to get burned so she slathered him in sunscreen (Thanks Mom). This enabled his hair to reach new heights making the little boy feel taller, matching his growing courage.

But all young adventurers must follow their explorations with a bath. After Daddy tried his best, Mommy discovered that a second dunking would be required to fully remove his SPF helmet. Gramsie's big kitchen sink was the only available reservoir and Mommy was delighted that her little boy had not outgrown this most traditional baby bath. Maybe he was not growing up too fast after all (despite valiant aquatic and hirsute feats). With the help of Auntie Lindsay's special shampoo and a pullout faucet Joshua's fierce mane was tamed and he became once again his Mommy's little cub.

Megs,
You do realize don't you, that you make (or at least, used to make)that same face that Josh is making in the sink picture. I wonder if it's genetic or if he just sees you do it! Man, that's so cool!

I completely forgot we gave Josh a bath in the sink. That picture is really funny. I empathize with the little guy. One of the curses of red hair is fair skin and the constant need for sunscreen. Bummer. We should all move back to a cloudy island somewhere.

I think Maren is right. The face Joshua is making in the sink is totally a face you make when you are concentrating. He is a cute kid! It is amazing how well he fits in the sink.

Heather and Maren, you are both right! That is a look of serious concentration! And I make that face far too often! I didn't realize Josh was making it until Maren pointed it out. That cracks me up!

btw Maren,we call him Josh all the time.
