Boston Bloggin'

Last weekend, we drove to Boston to meet up with Mom and Dad. Dad had an ethics conference. He extended his stay, brought Mom and found an awesome suite so we could stretch out and have lots of fun. (Thanks Dad!) This post is the first in a series of posts about our trip because I can't figure out how to make Picasa let me blog more than three pictures at a time. (If anyone knows how to solve this, let me know. I'm still such a blog newbie!)
The weather was a little unpleasant for our weekend (think raw temperatures and sideways rain) and since Mom and I can be a little wimpy (insert "princess-like") we had to find some fun indoor activities. These pictures are of our visit to the New England Aquarium. For those of you who haven't been they have these really cool little penguin pools and a ginormous cylindrical aquarium in the center of the building. You travel up a ramp that wraps around the aquarium and look into windows to see the sea creatures. Jason hoisted Josh up onto one of the windowsills (probably breaking several rules) so he could get a better look. Luckily no one chastised us and Josh got up close and personal with some sea life. You can't tell because his face is pressed up to the glass but he has a huge smile on his face. His favorite was the "turderl" which you can see in the third picture. I had to crop said picture to protect some innocent bystanders who might not like their picture on the web and who weren't all that attractive anyway. I feel like such a pro throwing around words like "crop." I pretend I am a photographer. My favorite thing about the turtle picture is the way I have captured the millions of smudged fingerprints on the glass. I think it really conveys the wonderment of childhood. Ugh! Can somebody get me some Windex, Please?!
Anyway, the important thing is that Josh said the word "turtle." We are working with him on his speech and when he spontaneously tries to say a word we are using we are overjoyed. He is showered with praise and applause, and you can bet he got a stuffed turtle from the gift shop for that vocalization. Oh, to be young and praised so highly for every accomplishment, what that must do for one's confidence. We could all use a little of that and maybe even a stuffed turtle from time to time.

What a great time! I miss Boston some times...

If you do your post from blogger instead of picasa, you can put as many pictures as you want on there. Use the little photo icon above the text box to do it. Good luck!

I love Boston! Shayla is visiting me for the next couple of weeks and we are going to Boston Memorial day weekend...too bad our weekends did not line up. The aquarium looks like a lot of fun, maybe we will check it out.
